They saw success with 2011's Bridesmaids, and now Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are at work on a new comedy they'll co-write and star in. Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar is set up at Lionsgate.

The new film tells the story of best friends Barb (Wiig) and Star (Mumolo) who leave their small midwestern town for the first time to go on vacation in Vista Del Mar, FL, where they soon find themselves tangled up in adventure, love, and a villain’s evil plot to kill everyone in town.

Josh Greenbaum is on to direct the film, which has the backing of Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Wiig will be seen in Wonder Woman 1984 (due in June next year) and Richard Linklater's Where'd You Go, Bernadette, which has yet to secure a UK release date. Mumolo most recently worked on indie drama Looks That Kill.
