For at least a couple of years now, the movie focusing on Justice League stalwart speedster The Flash has been floundering in development limbo, as directors came and went and scripts were produced then mostly used as firelighters. Finally, though, we might – stress on the might, given the history to date – have an actual director for what is currently called Flashpoint. Actually, make that directors, as Vacation's John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are close to a deal for the job.

Flashpoint will focus on Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), though the official plot hasn't yet been announced. Given the writers/directors' usual focus (they also just made a new comedy called Game Night starring Jason Bateman and worked on the script for Spider-Man: Homecoming), we'd expect the movie to keep the lighter tone that would suit the character. Joby Harold wrote the most recent draft of the script, and the new directors will surely have input.

The cast still presumably includes Billy Crudup (seen in Justice League as Barry's father Henry), with planned cameos from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher's Cyborg. Ben Affleck was offered the chance to direct the film but turned it down as his future with the DCEU remains unclear. Warner Bros. and DC are hoping to have Flashpoint ready to hit cinemas in 2020.
