There have been thrillers that used the medium of shooting all the action through screens before – Open Windows and Unfriended among them. They don't always work, but that isn't stopping filmmakers giving it a crack. The latest example is Searching, and the trailer is now online.

Aneesh Chaganty's film finds John Cho as David Kim, whose 16-year-old daughter goes missing. A local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter’s laptop.

With the story told through the technology we use today, David must trace his daughter’s digital footprints before she disappears forever.
