The LEGO Movie

It’s four years since Phil Lord and Chris Miller used their magical ‘bad-ideas-into-good-films’ abilities to construct something smart and funny in The LEGO Movie, and now the sequel is gearing up. Warner Bros have confirmed a title for the next film, set to be a direct continuation of the original after spin-offs The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. In a suitably meta movie, the sequel is titled The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, and it’s coming out next February.

Sadly Lord & Miller aren’t behind this one (though they are producers and have written the screenplay) – instead the directors this time around are Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. The former previously directed Shrek Forever After, Trolls and Sky High, while the latter worked on The LEGO Batman Movie in an unspecified capacity.

There’s little else to go on for now, but The Second Part will see Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks return as Emmet and Wyldstyle, while Will Arnett is expected to return as the Dark Knight. Tiffany Haddish has also joined the cast.
