It’s been nearly seven years since director Lynne Ramsay projected pure parental paranoia in We Need To Talk About Kevin, and her latest feature-length offering looks equally intense. Revenge thriller You Were Never Really Here stars a brooding, bearded Joaquin Phoenix as brutal hitman Joe, who rescues kidnapped girls between boughs of bone-crunching blood-spattered violence.
It looks stark and startling, and we’ve got our (clean, unbloodied) hands on a stylish alternative poster hinting at Joe’s claret-splashed spree.
After premiering at Cannes way back in May last year, UK audiences can finally experience Ramsay’s long-awaited new film when You Were Never Really Here hits cinemas on 9 March.
